Italian marble and aluminium Arco floor lamp, by Castiglioni for Flos, 1962
The Arco lamp is a design icon that has been in constant production since its debut in 1962.
The famous Castiglioni brothers did not spare any detail when they created it, from the rounded corners of its base in genuine Carrara marble (designed not to hurt if it brushes against them) to the strategic hole that allows easy lifting of the base.
The base supports a reflector in spun aluminum through an adjustable stem in curved stainless steel, which allows the lamp to offer both direct and indirect light, is very high and curved and this particular shape serves to allow easy positioning of a sofa or a table below.
The finish is in stainless steel.
